Navaratri is a nine-day Hindu festival celebrating the victory of good over evil, symbolized by Goddess Durga’s battle with the demon Mahishasura and triumph on the tenth day - Vijayadashami. The Golu/Gombe tradition, celebrated during Navaratri in South India, involves setting up a display of dolls on tiered steps. These dolls represent gods, goddesses, mythological scenes, and everyday life. Inviting families, friends and neighbours to see the Golu, sharing sweets, and exchanging gifts are an integral part of this vibrant festival.
