#khichdi ❣️It is Saturday and most of all houses in eastern and northern India cook Khichdi.Made by mixing rice and a variety of dal (lentils), Khichdi is a wholesome food item. It is because of this that when we are unwell we are advised to have khichdi. It is a power-packed dish that has carbohydrates, vitamins, calcium, dietary fibres, magnesium, potassium and phosphorus.

History:When something tastes so yummilicious, why not everyday only one Saturday? Why wait till the weekend? I tried asking people why this tradition of eating khichdi only on Shaniwar came about. One version says that some distant relative stepped out of home never to return back and apparently, the last meal he had was khichdi. So apparently, the tradition goes that you must not step out of home after eating khichdi!
