Story 3 - Pooja Vij: A Journey of Strength and Motherhood
“My name is Pooja Vij, I’m 40 years old, and I’m a mother of two. I work as a freelance makeup artist and skin therapist, navigating life’s challenges while ensuring my children have a better future than I did.”
Pooja’s journey has been marked by the struggles and judgments many women face. “It hasn’t been easy,” she recalls, sharing how people would make hurtful comments about her appearance and character. Even within her family, she faced harsh criticism.
But despite the pain, Pooja drew strength from her mother’s resilience. “I’ve learned so much from her. My mother is a strong woman, and because of that, I have become strong too.” Today, Pooja is determined to raise her children in a way that spares them from the hardships she endured.
She and her husband strive to create a better environment for their kids, even though they know their children pick up on the difficulties they face.
“My daughter, just like I was for my mother, is my rock. When times get tough, she hugs me and says, ‘Mom, don’t worry, everything will be okay.’ That’s when I realize just how strong daughters can be.
Growing up, people often placed more value on sons than daughters, but I’ve proven that a daughter can be the pride of the family. And my daughter, too, makes me feel proud every single day.”
Pooja’s story is one of resilience, motherhood, and empowerment. “Daughters should never think of themselves as less than anyone. One day, your daughter may be the crown of your head. I know, because I’ve become that for my mother, and my daughter is that for me.”
