Originated from Mysore, Obbattu or Holige is a local flatbread dessert made from maida, stuffed with a mix of peanuts, ghee, jaggery, cardamom powder, and lentils. L ocally called puran poli or bobbatlu, this dish is normally prepared around festivals like Maha Sankranti, Ugadi, or Deepawali. But that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy this sweet delight all around the year. The best part? Obbattu is served piping hot with ghee sprinkled on it.
